Can my kids get free breakfast or lunch meals at your
school?
Yes! We serve breakfast & lunch from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the front of the school. The meals are free to children, ages 1-18. Please remain in your vehicle, and the sack meal will be brought to your car. Please be prepared to give your name, and how many children are receiving the meal when asked by staff.
Did you hold your annual lottery for the 2020-2021
school year?
Yes! Our lottery drawing was Saturday, April 4, 2020. We are sending our
acceptance & waitlist letters via USPS to families entered in our lottery
the week of April 13th. If you did not enter your student into the lottery, and
wish to place your student on our waitlist, please call the front office at
208-453-8070.
Is school attendance required for my child during this
“soft closure” due to COVID-19?
Yes. Your child is
still required to attend by participating in remote schooling daily during the
“soft closure.” At HCCS, each teacher has a Bloomz account that all parents
have been asked to join. Your teacher will take attendance based on your
participation on Bloomz, Zoom, or a given task/activity picked up on a given
day.
Will my child’s work be graded during this soft
closure?
Yes. Your child’s
teacher is working hard to develop remote learning instruction for your child
to be completed daily, or over a period of days. Similar to our regular school
days before COVID-19, most of those assignments will be assigned a grade toward
their quarter 4 grade, while some of them will simply be required for
participation or practice. Grade level teachers will communicate with specifics
to your child’s classroom and assignments. Please keep in mind, this is
unprecedented for your child, you and your teachers. If you are feeling
overwhelmed, need additional support, or are facing hurdles on completing the
tasks, please contact your classroom teacher directly. We’re here to help and
want you and your child to have a successful experience at home during this
time.
Will my middle school student receive their personal
belongings from their lockers?
Yes!
Due to COVID-19, we are not able to allow non-employees into the building
at this time. We are currently working on a plan to have students pick up
personal belongings from the school on a specific date.
I don’t
have internet access at home or a computer-how can the school help me and my
student(s)?
We understand internet is
important to school learning. We have opened our schools WIFI to include
coverage in our parking lot. Please follow CDC guidelines and remain in your
vehicle while accessing the HCCS WIFI.
We also want to share that the City of Caldwell’s downtown corridor is a free and public WIFI corridor.
How can I access Bloomz?
Great question! HCCS teachers are
using Bloomz this year to communicate with all parents and students. We
absolutely want to help our students succeed. Please visit our school’s website
for individual teacher email addresses to contact for assistance or contact the
front office at 208-453-8070.
Will there be activities, ceremonies or athletic
events for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year?
No. Sadly, due to COVID-19
and restrictions set by the state, all activities, ceremonies, graduations, and
athletic events are cancelled for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school
year.
